As you head to Limón, you pass through Braulio Carillo National Park on the country’s busiest highway as you descend to the lowlands. Once you’ve reached the province you have your pick of world-class beaches to choose from. You will automatically feel a difference in the mood of this province as it tends to be more relaxed and easygoing.
To the south is the town of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, an area that boasts some of the most pristine white-sand beaches and formidable surf breaks the country has to offer. The town is the perfect place to luxuriate at one of its resorts by day and enjoy its vibrant adult attractions by night.

To the north of the province is Tortuguero National Park which is a protected habitat for many of Costa Rica’s treasured wildlife, but, most importantly, it serves as the spawning grounds for the Green Sea Turtle. This is one the most visited areas due ability to witness the miracle of life like clockwork at the same beach year after year.
Heading south is Cahuita National Park, a coral reef preserve that serves as the perfect place for a day at the beach snorkeling and getting up close and personal with the region’s underwater flora and fauna. Right near the Panama Border lies the Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge where adventure seekers can enjoy activities like mangrove kayak tours.
