Two of the most formidable volcanoes in Costa Rica, Poas, and Arenal, are located in the region and are thriving areas for adventure tourist trips such as hiking, canyoning, and ziplining. Arenal is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and is well-known for its iconic conical shape and bright lava flows that make for quite the spectacle when viewed at night.
Alajuela’s Rainforests
One of the main reasons visitors are drawn to Costa Rica is its natural beauty and Alajuela does not disappoint. For those visitors looking for a genuine wildlife experience, there are several national parks and refuges in Alajuela.
