Day 02: You will be picked up at 8:00 a.m. for a transfer to the local airport for your domestic flight to Palmar Sur.  You will be met by a guide from Casa Corcovado for a transfer to their base camp in Sierpe.  You will have a few minutes to freshen up and use the facilities before embarking on a one and a half hour boat ride down the Sierpe River and into the Pacific Ocean.  During the trip you will observe the largest mangrove forest system on the Pacific Coast of Central America, home of many different varieties of birds such as the roseate spoonbill and crocodiles.

Once on the open sea, you may be able to spot dolphins and humpback whales on your trajectory to the hotel.

Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge is located right next to the Corcovado National Park, the last remaining lowland rainforest of sustainable size in Central America and the “Crown Jewel” of the national park system.

Upon your arrival at the lodge you will enjoy a refreshing welcome cocktail.  Your private bungalow is immersed in exotic gardens, surrounded by wild tropical rainforest and furnished with the most beautiful details.  There will be a bottle of wine, flowers and a special gift waiting for you in your room.

Free afternoon to explore the surrounding trails and the beach.  (Meals BLD)

Day 03: After breakfast, you will head down to the beach for your boat ride to Caño Island, an ancient Indian burial ground, where you will spend the day.  You will be able to snorkel among the coral reefs that surround this tropical paradise and hike to the burial sites.

A picnic lunch will be served on the white sand beach, sheltered by coconut trees.

Return to the hotel for overnight.  (Meals BLD)

Day 04: Today you will have a full day adventure in the Corcovado National Park.  Once you’ve had a hearty breakfast, you will head out with your naturalist guide into Corcovado National Park. The cool morning hours offer a good opportunity to spot wildlife and to observe some of the incredible variety of birds that abound in the park.

The animal life in this section of the National Park is quite vibrant, with frequent sighting of monkeys, coatimundis, squirrels, spiders, macaws, bats, leaf cutting ants, and other animal species. As well, much will be mentioned about the plant and tree species, which is lush, and teeming with life.

Along the trail your guide will have a chance to tell you some of the fascinating stories about life in the rainforest and point many things out to you. Later, coming down through the forest you will find a river and then discover an incredible waterfall. Now is your chance to cool off in one of the shaded pools of the rushing river.

Afterwards, you wind your way down the river until reaching the Park Station at San Pedrillo. The San Pedrillo ranger station is the most northern of the four stations. Situated just off shore is Picaros Island, which serves as a refuge for several species of marine birds including the Brown Boobie, Blue Heron and Brown Pelican.  At the Station under shade trees on the beach you will enjoy a sumptuous picnic with fresh fruit and ice-cold drinks. After lunch there will be time to explore the beach or to just relax.

In the afternoon, you will walk short distance along the coastal trail to return to the lodge. Join us later for a frosty margarita and to watch the sunset.

As you watch the sun melt in to the sea you can reflect upon the wonders of the most intricate and intense place on earth, the rainforest of the Osa Peninsula. (Meals BLD)

Day 05: Start your day with a delicious breakfast in bed.  A well deserved treat after all the excitement of the previous days.

Today you will be able to relax by the pool or head down to the beach for some R&R.  In case you want to get up early, there is an optional bird watching tour right in the hotel premises.  (Meals BLD)
